Our beautiful mica/neon pigments have gained more popularity recently and are the perfect way to add shimmer to wax melts. The mica has light reflecting particles that create an extra special, eye-catching shine and sparkle.
Mica can be added to creations at wax melting point but can also be painted on afterwards. We do not recommend that mica is added to the inside of candles as the wick can become clogged, resulting in a potential fire hazard.
The mica can be used as a colourant alone or can be used with liquid dye or chips for a more intense, deeper colour. We advise that customers trial different amounts to achieve the colour and look that is desired. The mica has a shelf life of around 5 years; however, it needs to be stored in a cool, dry, and ventilated place to preserve, to the expected time.
The mica we sell is synthetic, this avoids the non-ethical aspect of the use of child labour in the mining of natural mica and reduces the potential risk of toxicity found in some natural minerals. Synthetic mica not only gives peace of mind, but it also produces a much more intense colour and greater sparkle.
